X-tra Innings and the Padres = NOT GOOD

  • 3-2 Giants

Well, we tried. Adrian hit a homer in the bottom of the eighth to tie it a two. On to the tenth, where Trevor comes in to pitch in a tie game. Another equation: Trevor + tie game = Bad night at the ballpark for the Padres. In case I hadn’t made it clear, TREVOR CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT PITCH IN TIE GAMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN HE GETS TWO OUTS!!!!!! I understand Budddy’s thinking. Trevor wouldn’t have saved the game because we are at home. But in tie games, Trevor usually gets two outs, and then things go wrong. I don’t know if he relaxes more, or just isn’t thinking as much, but he gives up runs. Single, double, ballgame. But we fought back. Sort of. With one out, Edgar, Giles and Adrian singled to load the bases for Kouz. But even those singles weren’t going our way. They were hit too hard. I knew we were going to lose. I knew Kouz was going to ground into that double play. But I got excited. I had hope. And what hurts the most is knowing what could have been, what should have been. If Trevor hadn’t pitched the 10th. If there was one more hop on Kouz’s ground ball. Earlier in the game, if Hundley had been able to stop that passed ball. I could go on for hours, but it wouldn’t help anything. What’s done is done. I need to forget that game and focus on Jake tonight. Having Jake out there sure gives me a good feeling. A positive from last night was that we didn’t have any errors. Hopefully that will carry into tonight. Another positive was the crowd. Almost 34,000 were out there to see the San Diego Chicken, er, Padres. No, they were loud in cheering on their pathetic team. I give credit to all who endured that game. So, our CY Young winner tonight vs. Barry Zito, who isn’t supposed to be very good. But of course he will look very good against the Padres. Hopefully we can do something great tonight. Go Padres!
