We are not hitting.
That, my friends, is not good.
We just lost two games to the Dodgers in which we had a total of 15 hits with two runs.
It is not good.
If we hit the slump later in the season, we’d be okay. But slumping this early in the season? It’s nothing but bad news.
You gotta start out hot. We sort of did, and I guess we still might be. But I do have to say that the past two games are worrying me a bit.
Friday’s game was a disaster. It had like four rain delays, and the game was finally postponed to Saturday. Then, of all people, Tony Gwynn Jr., who is now on the Dodgers, drove in the tie-breaking run. I seriously can’t believe it. I got a horrible feeling when I heard T-Gwynn announced in the 11th that he was going to do something big against us. Just like the end of the season in 2007. Man. I think I liked him better when he was playing for us.
This whole series is just turning out to be a nightmare. Saturday’s game stunk because we were shutout the whole thing. The Dodgers took it 4-0. It was so sad because of course, we rallied in the bottom of the ninth with single, single, walk with two outs. But then Cam Maybin hit a ball right to the third baseman, and Chase Headley ran into the third baseman for the final out. Way to go Chase.
So now the Dodgers have won the series. Last night/today’s game definitely has messed us up. Blech.
I hope that we can find our bats again soon. We need them. At least Mat Latos is coming back on Monday.
GO PADRES!!!! BEAT LA!!!!
