Not a Win, Not a Loss

  • 10-10 tie

What an interesting game. As you can see, our pitchers gave up ten runs, so I’m not too happy about that. But starter Josh Geer had a great game. Three innings of no-hit shut-out ball. I’m very happy for him. His last outing didn’t go that great, when he allowed like two home runs and four runs in a couple innings. It’s nice to see him bounce back and have a great outing after a really bad one. Right now, I’d say that Josh Geer and Kevin Correia essentially have those last two spots in the rotation locked up. They are doing really well, and they can pitch. But we’ll see.

Cla Meredith had a clean inning, striking out two. Cesar Carrillo gave up six runs. Chris Britton gave up two runs, as did Matt Buschmann. Edwin Moreno threw a scoreless tenth. So, the pitching wasn’t the best, but it could have been better. I am really pleased about Geer and Meredith, though. They are looking great this spring!

On the offensive side, we did very well. Emil Brown had a two-run double in the top of the first. Kyle Blanks, that big boy, slammed a three-run homer in the fifth. My boy Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a two-run homer! I’m so proud of him. Chase Headley and David Eckstein each had two hits. Eckstein has really been playing well this spring, both with his offense and his defense. We got three more runs in the seventh to tie the game at ten. We played ten innings, but neither team could score. And so, since it’s Spring Training and all, the game ended there.

Trevor did not play. Man, he’s gotta face us sometime! Of course, he’s pitching today and not yesterday. I think this is one of the stages of heartbreak. First is denial, then bitterness/hate at the person who “broke up” with you. I think I am going through the bitterness stage. WHY did you have to leave us Trevor?!?!?!!?!??!???!?!?

OK, I’m good. Anyway, it was a great game for us, I am really pleased with the offense right now. They are doing great, getting their hits, driving in runs. Just what we want them to do!

Thumbnail image for cla ut.jpgCongrats to Cla and Natalie Meredith! Natalie gave birth to their first child on Sunday, a girl named Adellyn Sue. Cla got to spend Tuesday, which was a off day, with his wife and his new baby girl. Then, though very tired, he went out yesterday and threw a perfect inning! Again, congrats to the Merediths, and I hope Cla and his wife can get some rest soon!

Today we are playing the White Sox for the first time this spring. Chris Young will be starting. He last pitched on Sunday and gave up two runs. Mike Ekstrom, Greg Burke (who really needs to start his blog), Scott Patterson, and Mark Worrell will also pitch. It will be very interesting to hear about all of Jen’s favorite players.  LINEUP!!!

  • SS Chris Burke
  • 3B Luis Rodriguez
  • RF Brian Giles
  • 1B Kyle Blanks
  • CF Jody Gerut
  • LF Drew Macias
  • C Nick Hundley

Hm, interesting lineup today. We’ll see how it goes! GO PADRES!!!

Congrats to Cla! Our ace, Mark Buehrle, had a daughter a few days ago. It looks like I was wrong about AJ not playing today. Enjoy my super uber crush! My second fave on the Sox now that Crede is gone is playing today too: Josh Fields at third.

JANE, yes, I think I am getting angry at him for leaving! And yeah, games like that can be pretty fun! Sort of.

JEN, yeah, both of your guys did very well today 🙂 Good game.

JENN, well, it’s better than a loss!

JULIA, the game’s looking great so far!

HYUN YOUNG, our pitching was really bad today. Oh well. GO PADRES!!

XCICIX, yeah, he played with you guys last year I think. He played like six positions while he was there!
