Happy Thanksgiving!

thanksgiving leaves.jpgIt’s that time of year again. The time when the leaves are changing and the weather is turning cold. It’s a time to think of all our blessings, to eat a lot of food, and be thankful.

Of course, I am extremely thankful for my friends and family. You guys are amazing! Here are some other baseball-related things I am thankful for this year:

  • I am thankful for a major league team in my city. Only 29 other cities can say that they have a major league team. I love the Padres. They are a decent organization, and they could be worse. They’ve given us three championship-caliber seasons in a row. 2008 was just a bump in the road. We have the potential to go deep into the postseason.
  • I am thankful for Petco Park. Some fans don’t like it, but I love it. I love being downtown, peering through the buildings until I glimpse Petco. It’s a beautiful stadium, it really is. I love it’s distinctive features, like the Western Metal Supply building, the Beach, the Park in the Park, the Porch. The stadium is a part of San Diego. I love it.
  • I am thankful for MLBLOGS. I have very few people in my life who I can truly talk baseball with. It can get kind of depressing. But here, it doesn’t matter if you’re young, old, male, female, accepted, or lonely, you can just come here and talk baseball with fans all over the globe. This blog has been a huge blessing to me in the 6 months I’ve been writing it. This is a great community.
  • I am thankful that I am able to attend a few games. My family isn’t rich, and a game for all of us costs $100-150. But I was able to squeeze out three games this year. Each one was extremely special. I got to see Trevor Time for the first time. He got his 550th save that day. I got to see an 11-3 win that had 4 homers in it. I got to see our new left fielder, Chase Headley, hit a home run. It was so much fun.
  • I am so thankful that my salvation does not depend on the fate of the Padres. Kind of obvious, I know. But without God, I would be dead. And the thing is, I deserve to die. I deserve to live in eternal hell. But by His miraculous grace and mercy, and the death of Christ on the cross, I am redeemed. When I die, I am going to Heaven for eternity. But while I am here on this rotten earth, God is with me, watching over me, and He’s in control of every aspect of my life. It’s amazing, and totally undeserved. It is only by grace that I am saved. Thank you, Lord!

I also want to thank all my readers. You guys have been great, thank you so much for reading about the Padres and other randomness! Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone!

Kaybee, you know what? I could tell you were a Christian before I got to your last bullet. I’m thankful that there are Christians in this network to talk baseball with!

Thanks for stopping by to comment on my blog. I’m new around here. I was an avid blogger over at Blogspot. I must ask, how did you find my blog? Is there a way to see what others are posting? I know this is a dumb question.

Regarding your team and its situation. I’m sorry. Believe me though, I know what it feels like. I especially know what it feels like to lose some of your biggest players. I can remember the day we lost Maddux. I nearly quit watching them. It really is sad. I guess we can’t be like Boston or New York and everything we lose someone big, we gain someone bigger.

    Good chatting with you!

And this new blogger is thankful that you took the time to make her feel welcomed! We all need to take the time to be thankful for all the small things in life. And that we can all visit sites like this where we can talk (or argue!) our hearts out about baseball! A blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours

Great picture! I love the vibrant fall air, and colors. Petco has seems like a very interesting park, a lot of character! Especially the sandbox in center field. I like ballparks that have that kind of character, if you know what I mean. The Rogers Centre in Toronto, got a lot better when Rogers took over and put in video screens on the walls and all the around the facility. I’m thankful for what they did to the Dome, and the money they put into the team. The hiring of the some of the front office (i.e. J.P. Ricciard) is a little more questionable.

Hope you are have an awesome Thanksgiving and thank you for reading my blog!http://homerfoodandhistory.mlblogs.com/
